The History of Rochester’s Farmers’ Market

Once known as an agricultural hub after its settlement in the 1880s, Rochester has grown to become a lovely city with a diverse shopping district, a healthy amount of tourism, and, as you may already know, a locally adored farmers’ market. While vendors have always pitched booths and sold their wares in some form or another, the first official Rochester farmers’ market started 27 years ago—and it’s been a hit every year since!

When Does the Rochester Farmers’ Market Open in 2026?

The farmers’ market is slated to open on May 2nd, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will run every Saturday until October. Where Is the Farmers’ Market in Rochester Located?

While developers had hoped to have the brand-new, year-round location opened by the end of summer last year, it looks like it will be a few more months before the farmers’ market makes the official move. Instead, the beloved tradition will operate at the corner of East Third and Water Street. If construction goes well, maybe the whole operation will be able to move to the Market + The Graham next season!

How Many Vendors Does the Rochester Farmers’ Market Host?

This year, instead of the typical 45, around 75 different vendors will be able to call the Rochester farmers’ market home.
