The Inspiration Behind Novel

Rachel and Elliott, the brains behind this bookstore near Macomb, are more than co-owners—they’re husband and wife and parents to three beautiful children in Rochester Hills. When the two of them dreamed up their vision for Novel, they knew they wanted to create a third space where everyone in the community felt like they were welcome to grab a bite from the sandwich menu, select a recommended book, and settle into a home-away-from-home. From the cozy armchairs to the “Tree of Knowledge” art display to the enticing green shelves, every single design detail was chosen with that concept in mind.

Depending on where you are in town, Novel is only about a 25- to 35-minute drive away from Macomb, Michigan. Located between W 3rd and W 4th Street, Novel is easily identifiable by our brand-new sign, big window, and, of course, our porch goose mascot that goes by the name of Silly.
