Inspired by Ray Oldenburg’s “third space theory,” this locally owned store is meant to be a place where people can gather and connect outside of their offices and homes. A Bit About Novel’s Owners

Co-owners and married couple Rachel and Elliott are a dynamic duo in and out of Novel. Long before their store opened, the two had dreamed of running a store that combined both of their passions. For Rachel, this meant a thoughtfully curated bookshop near Auburn Hills; For Elliott, it meant an artisanal sandwich shop. Somehow, a few years down the line, the two found time in their busy schedules as business entrepreneurs and parents of three to see this dream come to life.

Novel would not have been possible without the help of their nearest and dearest. From Rachel’s dad acting as the contractor for the space to their friend Sarah constructing their beloved “Tree of Knowledge” art installation, every single detail was accomplished with love. Now, they get to share their bookstore with Auburn Hills and beyond.
